My work
How do I understand exterior design?
The term is an allusion to 'interior design', the tailor-made design of the indoor spaces of a house.
Exterior design involves the complementary design and shaping of all of your outdoor spaces - including terraces with eating and cooking areas,
individual seating areas or garden houses and invigorating water features such as pools, ponds or fountains.
A complementary interplay of light and plants creates unity throughout the garden. This will make your garden much more
than just open space. It becomes your representation to the outside world, your oasis of calm,
your view out the window first thing in the morning, your space to relax with friends and family in the evening.
It's where you go find yourself again and it inspires you anew every day.
Why is my work cosmopolitan?
I collect inspiration as souvenirs while travelling and staying in Europe, America, India and Japan. There, I engage within unfamiliar design principles, find new ideas for plant combinations and for the use of materials. I look over the shoulders of traditional craft workers and photograph modern architecture. I take these different approaches from all corners of the world home with me and combine them to create cosmopolitan exterior design for a new generation.
